Frequently Asked Questions

What is a free consultation?

We connect for 20 minutes to get to know each other a bit. This is a time for us to discuss a little bit about what you’re looking for with therapy, tell you about my approach, answer any questions, and really feel out if we’re a good fit. From there, we see if you want to schedule an intake session. There's no obligation to continue after this conversation—it's all about making sure you feel confident and comfortable in your decision to start therapy, whether it's with me or elsewhere.

What are your rates?

My rate for individual therapy is $150 per session.

My rate for couples therapy is $225 per session.

Understanding that therapy is both a significant emotional and financial commitment, I strive to accommodate a range of financial situations. My fees reflect the depth of training, expertise, care, and commitment I bring to this. They also recognize that therapy is an investment in your long-term well-being and happiness.

Good therapy needs to be accessible. If finances are a concern for you, please talk with me. It’s important for me to find a way to support your journey towards healing and growth, and sometimes an adjusted “sliding scale rate” can make therapy more affordable. I reserve room in my schedule for folks who need an adjusted rate.

Therapy is a lot more than just paying to chat. It's about investing in yourself and building a life worth living. It's about those big changes that can make life feel a whole lot better within your own mind, emotionally and in your relationships with others. I care about making sure that every time we meet, you're getting something valuable out of it, moving you closer to that fulfilling life. I’m here to help make that happen, session by session.

Do you take insurance?

I don’t directly bill insurances. However, I am committed to making therapy accessible and manageable within your financial means. Here’s how I can creatively approach that:

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) & Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): I accept payments through both HSA and FSA accounts. Utilizing these accounts allows you to use pre-tax dollars for medical expenses, including therapy, potentially making therapy more affordable for you.

Superbills: For clients who are interested in seeking reimbursement from their insurance provider, I can provide a superbill. A superbill is a detailed receipt of the services provided, which you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. I will provide you with all the necessary documentation to support your claim.

I understand that navigating the financial aspects of therapy can seem daunting, and I am here to support you through this process. If you have any questions about using your HSA/FSA or submitting a superbill for insurance reimbursement, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am dedicated to making therapy accessible and will work with you to explore all available options to support your journey towards healing and growth.

What can I expect in the first session?

I really care about the first session setting the tone of comfort and care—it’s about building a supportive relationship. Meeting with a stranger for the first time can be intimidating! It’s my style to go slow, at your pace, and not push anything out of you. I typically try to get to goals, a little bit of what life looks like now, and get a “birds eye view” of who you are. I really do appreciate that someone can step out and trust me with some of the more intimate parts of their lives (over time!!); it’s more of a gift, or a privilege than an expectation.

Also, It’s okay to come in and not have it all figured out. You don’t have to be able to articulate, or explain, or have a plan of action. Part of my role is being able to navigate and figure out what you need therapy to look like, and to guide us to create something that is genuinely helpful for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens! Trust me, I get it. There’s going to be a time where you won’t be able to attend. I ask that you give me at least 24 to 48 hours notice if you know you will be unable to attend your session. You will not be charged for cancelling within this time frame. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at the full session rate. Cancellations between 48 and 24 hours are billed at 1/2 the session rate. Feel free to chat with me if you have any questions about this.
